an open letter to instant gratification

You’re getting in the way

Of hopes
Of dreams
Of desires that actually matter

You show up with your dopamine rush and your same-day delivery, and suddenly everyone’s convinced that if it’s not instant… it’s not worth it

We want overnight results
And when we don’t get them?

We numb
We scroll
We quit

We doubt ourselves before we’ve even started

You’re convenient, sure
But you’re also soul-crushing

Because of you, people give up
Or worse… they don’t even begin

They don’t take the class
They don’t write the first draft
They don’t try the thing that’s calling their name at 3am

Because it might take time
It’s not guarantee to go viral
It doesn’t come with same-day delivery

Same-day delivery
Same-day burnout
Same-day disconnection from the world around us

You’ve got the world moving faster than ever…
But is anyone actually getting anywhere?

And here’s the truth:

Desires are sacred
They’re mesages from your soul about how to live while you’re here
So if you’re reading this, take it as a blessing
Because today, right now, you still have time

You’re allowed to start small

To be bad at something
To be unseen, unpolished, unknown … and still worth showing up for

Instant gratification, I respect you

You’ve created a lot of solutions
You’ve also created a lot of problems

So here’s my hope:
That we start seeing you for what you really are..
A distraction

A distraction from the slow and steady process of becoming

Because I’m not wanting more in less time..

I’m wanting meaning
And meaning takes time
